Come see me at Pinney Library!
Hello out there!
It’s been so fun to get started at Pinney Library as their 2026 artist-in-residence! I’m grateful for the opportunity to make new connections and see what kind of interesting works we can create together.
My inspiration for the residency theme, The Art of Neighborships, comes from a couple different places. Firstly, I am absolutely obsessed with my neighborhood friendships, a group of families who met down the street at “Blue Park” (iykyk, jk Ontario Park please come hang out). Secondly, there is a lot of buzz in the zeitgeist about how neighborly relationships increase safety and belonging, as so powerfully modeled for us by folks in Minnesota. These relationships require action: Neighboring, Neighborism, Neighborships, Neighborizing, Neighborsitter, Neighborhoodies.
As part of the residency, I will host two open studios per week. These are drop-in sessions to play and get involved with whatever process I have up my sleeve that day! Expect chances to try your hand at portraiture, build collaborative worlds, and connect with ideas about what it means to be in neighborship with those around us.
There is an opening reception next week and I would love to see some familiar faces! Expect some kind of silly photo booth to help me gather portrait reference materials, the beginnings of the collaborative cardboard city, and a place to add your ideas about the art of neighborships!
I hope to see you next week! ✨
Carrie

And don’t miss the sweetest neighborhood event coming up this weekend! I plan to be there with some arty play for the kiddos.
And finally, there is one little spot left in the paper mache summer camp I’m teaching at Art + Lit Lab! Snag it?
