Leaving the Nest! Celebrating a Building Migration.

Hello all,

Look! I’ve managed to fit the entirety of the art room supplies into my basement. I had to pack up early due to a ceiling leak. This was a bummer yet also provided me with more time to thoughtfully organize and consolidate. And there was so much to pack! I pinch myself when I look back at how much happened in that little room over the last year. Check out my wild photo gallery from Jan-May 2025 below. So much fun and mess and play and connection happened. 💞

Thank you all, and a special thank you to Staci and Marie, Co-Executive Directors of the Eastmorland Community Center, for making this space available to Kindling.

Our final event in the old building is this weekend! We hope you’ll join for our open-house celebration on Sunday, July 27th. This will be a sweet opportunity to see the most recent drawings of the new building. Did you know we plan to include murals? Artist Amy Zaremba and I are teaming up to make it happen. At the event this weekend, you can engage with the design ideas and even help us paint a quick mock-mural on the art room walls.

More details below. Hope to see you there!

A note about the future of Kindling and The Eastmorland Community Center.

Our home, The Eastmorland Community Center (ECC), is pursuing a site redevelopment starting August 2025. The church-centric structure will be taken down, to be replaced with 24(ish) units of workforce housing and a new mixed-use community center. Kindling will be without a physical home for about a year, with plans to move into the new center in Fall 2026.
